The practical benefit is parts. A component that appears unobtainable under one badge is frequently listed under another, and on an older appliance that difference decides whether a door seal is a twenty minute purchase or a dead end. Check for catalytic panels
Some Whirlpool models carry catalytic liners on the rear wall: rough, matte panels that look like years of neglect and are in fact the cleaning system. Scrubbing or spraying one destroys the coating permanently.

6th Sense
Whirlpool's 6th Sense control system appears across much of the range. It is a cooking feature rather than a cleaning one, and it does not change how the cavity should be treated, but it is a useful identifier when working out which generation of appliance you have.
The age spread, and why it is wider than most

A Whirlpool in a recent apartment fit-out may be five years old and genuinely straightforward. A Whirlpool in a house that was renovated in the early 2000s may be twenty years old and carrying two decades of baked carbon. There is no useful generalisation to make from the badge itself.
So the practical advice is to judge the appliance rather than the brand. Open it, look at the cavity roof rather than the floor, and set expectations from what is actually there. An oven with a hard black roof wants three applications and an afternoon; one with a light film wants thirty minutes. Both are Whirlpools and neither tells you anything about the other.
