The one people put off
The seals and the drain channel, not the shelves
A fridge is the appliance people postpone longest, and it is usually postponed for a good reason: doing it properly means emptying it, and emptying it means finding somewhere for the contents to go for an hour. So it gets a wipe of the shelf that had the spill on it and the door closes again.
The shelves are the easy part and they are not really the point. The two places that matter are the door seals and the drain channel. A door seal is a folded rubber bellows, and the fold holds moisture, crumbs and eventually mould along its whole run. It is also the part that determines whether the door actually seals, so a loaded seal is not only unpleasant, it costs you cooling. We clean along the full fold rather than across the face of it.
The drain channel sits at the back of the fridge behind the crisper drawers, and it is how condensation leaves the cabinet. When it blocks, water pools under the drawers, and that pool is the source of nearly every fridge smell we are ever called about. Clearing it takes a couple of minutes if you know it is there and never happens if you do not.
The rest is method rather than mystery. Shelves, drawers and door bins come out and are washed, the cabinet is cleaned top down so nothing drips onto a surface already done, and everything is dried before it goes back so there is no residual moisture to start the cycle again. We use food-safe products throughout, because it is a food-storage appliance and nothing else would be defensible.
One practical note that saves everybody time. Have the fridge emptied before we arrive if you possibly can. We can empty and repack it, but that is a separate quoted line rather than part of the clean, and it adds real time to the visit.
Every clean
What is included
Two prices, one condition
Fridge cleaning prices
All prices GST-inclusive. A fridge is added to a booking rather than booked on its own.
* Prices are indicative only and may vary with the size and condition of the appliance, how heavily soiled it is, and your location. Your operator will confirm the final price.
Emptying and repacking the fridge is a separate quoted line. Have it empty if you can.
The package rate
Why it costs less on a package
A fridge on its own is an hour or more of work plus a van crossing Sydney for it. On a package the van is already outside for most of the morning, so the package rate charges you for the hour rather than for the trip. That is the entire mechanism, and it is why the rate is not available on a single-appliance booking.
It applies to the small and medium sizes. The large one, the French door and side-by-side units, stays at its standard rate on every booking, because it is genuinely most of an extra visit's work rather than a marginal half hour. We would rather say that than average the three and quietly overcharge the two smaller ones.
Any of our packages qualifies. An oven with a cooktop is already one.

While we are there
The Full Valet, from $585
A fridge is the appliance people put off longest, and the cheapest time to have it done is while we are already in the kitchen. Adding the cooktop to an oven clean is $75 instead of $115, and the rangehood is the same. Take all four appliances together and the package is from $585 against $715 booked one at a time, so you keep $130 and three of the four mornings. It is booked as your operator's whole day, so yours is the only job they take.
- Standard Oven (up to 600mm)
- Cooktop (4 burners)
- Rangehood (up to 600mm)
- 3-Burner BBQ
